Following the critical acclaim and success of the original core game released back in May 2015, and its ongoing appeal and growing fan base as the definitive racing sim of choice, Project CARS has grown hugely via its On Demand and Esports programs and is the leading racing title in new technologies such as 12K and Virtual Reality.

The Game of the Year Edition is a celebration and a thank you to the racing community around the world. Featuring all the elements of the original core experience, the Game of the Year Edition also includes an additional: 50+ cars (125 total), 4 tracks (35 unique locations, 100+ layouts total), 60+ community-created liveries, plus two special and exclusive items...

Project CARS Game of the Year Edition will be available in Spring 2016 on PlayStation®4, Xbox One and PC.

The end is near for DLC support in Project CARS 1, but it is to be expected given SMS really need to re-focus on the sequel. This GOTY package is most likely the second-to-last piece of additional content, with ovals a very likely prospect to close out the title. At 12 months of support and reasonably priced DLC, SMS have definitely satisfied a good portion of their community. Yes the game is buggy at times and yes the consoles pale in comparison to PC, but those who have put the time into the game have definitely gotten their moneys worth.

I’ll be posting a follow-up on the latest DLC over at Digital Burnouts later today.

Edit: to clear up any potential confusion, the GOTY package WILL NOT require you to re-purchase the game to get all the Paganis or the track; instead it will be available On Demand (read: as regular DLC) to all players and treated as such.

Has anyone else noticed that racing games devs all tend to announce their news around the same time?

At times they all just happen to line up. There was a lot of overlap in Feb and March, but pCars has been known to have lined up with AC’s dream packs simply because of how they schedule their calendars. Recently it’s been Forza and pCars but that’s because Microsoft was delaying XBox DLC validation.

My Project Cars experience has been pretty great. I wish they had more point to point locales like Highway 1 and Azure Coast.

Ditto. Bannochbrae is pretty great as a circuit though.
